Throughout analyzing film posters and film front
covers, I noticed there was a similar house style to the products. The reason I
chose these front covers was due to them being closely related to the genre of
my trailer, a psychological thriller/horror. I noticed common iconography used
such as blood dripping. This is commonly used in horror genre, by this being
used often it allows audience to have expectations of what the film will be
about, which would include a confusing and frightening plot, murder or a plot twist
to create tension. This relates to John Fiske’s theory of genres and explained
that there is certain aspects that each genre has which is what differs them
from each other. I was inspired from these front covers and decided that I
would also use red, black and possibly white as my main colours. My colour
scheme will also not be so bright as I believe this does not compliment my
genre.
